![]() Each day consists of three different periods - morning, afternoon, and evening - and it’s up to you what you do with that time. You’ll tackle things day by day, selecting from a wide range of activities. Academagia is a combination of a simulation and a role-playing game, and the experience consists almost entirely of menus. Once you enter the world of the Academy, your choices will further affect just how your character progresses. Whether you decide to play as a bully or a bookworm, it’s completely up to you.īut creating your character is only the first step. But while it might seem a little daunting, this actually gives you a great deal of freedom to create exactly the character you want. Everything from family history to astrological sign to magical aptitude to intelligence. To start, you’re given a host of options on how you want to create your character. You play as a young wizard on their first day at the world renowned Academy of Magic. While the game moves slowly and features an almost overwhelming amount of content, if you give it the time, it will absolutely absorb you. And with Academagia, now they finally have that chance. (unlocked by Explore skill of at least 5) allows a Character to study Gates (albeit rather inefficiently).Wizard-themed life sim boasts hundreds of hours of gameplay.Įver since Harry Potter first entered the cultural consciousness, there have been more than a few people who have imagined just what it might be like to actually go to a wizarding school like Hogwarts. The adventure Language Skills (unlocked by Bassan subskill of at least 3) allows a Character to study Mastery (albeit rather inefficiently), and the adventure Once Discovered. I agree about libraries, but there are some Dark-Arts study routes that are unlockable through adventures that depend not upon character creation backgrounds. Libraries give you an amazing way to improve yourself in different directions.Īll other options are totally open to RP, with the exception that if you want to get into the Dark Arts of Gates and Mastery, you need to take the character creation options that open up the ability to study them, or again you are up for really unlikely RNG. I do think that taking libraries as a starting character knowledge is almost mandatory, because otherwise you are at the mercy of RNG to find the same libraries, and until you find them, you have to use the "study" skill like a chump to prepare for exams. Both mandatory courses for this college are linked to the intelligence attribute, both mandatory courses grant attribute increases when they are studied to level 10 (finesse and fitness), and Zoology allows the player character to easily access (by improving the insects subskill to 2) and improve the planning subskill to 2, granting a permanent + 1 to insight and intelligence. Best advice: play the in-game tutorial (reading carefully) and feel free to ask on the official game forums or consult the wiki.Īs a final tip: the easiest college to play as is Morvidus. The learning curve is steep, but so is that for Dwarf Fortress and roguelikes. ![]() These words aside, the game allows for much flexibility in how you want your character to develop, and the character can succeed in many adventures. Furthermore, the save scumming was to help with one adventure (The Snake-Girl), which even veteran players find very difficult: įor a summary of what I did during this playthrough and caveats, see: One of my most recent games was sub-optimal (and involved save-scumming) but was very enjoyable. I prefer to min-max when playing this game, but such is not necessary.
